Through tidal maps, coral architectures, and temporalities ranging from the anthropological to the oceanic, these works serve as a means to encourage greater ecological consciousness. A meditative exploration of coral’s exquisite natural forms, focusing on the many individual polyps that form into the collective. These tiny colonial animals—magnified in scale—reveal intricate patterns and delicate structures, emphasizing the beauty and intelligence of their unified existence.

Oceanic time unfolds in cycles—slow, rhythmic, and non-linear—measured in tides, lifecycles of shells become the sand we walk on. Echoing a view of time that is not absolute but relational, the sea becomes our time keeper, where matter and memory dissolve into fluid, interconnected durations.

Two linear tidal maps—one of Monterey Bay, a body of water I have swum in, and one of Waiʻanae, which I know only through this line drawing. Tides influence all living systems on Earth, their steady pull a quiet force without which our planet, and ourselves, would not exist.
